Why VideoMail?

(Video Mail, Video email and Videomail. Three names for the same thing)

Will videomail catch on?

Videomail will be used by people who don't want to type. Think about handheld devices, PDA's, Blackberry's, iPhones etc. Typing on those little keyboards is tedious. When videomail catches on it will be when handheld devices make recording and sending a videomail through handheld devices easy and fast.

Videomail on desktop and notebook computers will go mainstream when a gadget, widget or other useful program can be embed into your email provider's user interface. When you can reply with video from your personal email address, whether that be a gmail, yahoo, or your business email address THAT is when videomail will go mainstream. I promise.

So why has this technology taken so long to catch on?

The technology has been around since the first web cam was marketed by Logitech over 10 years ago. The short answer is speed. Both the speed of users' Internet connection and the speed of sending a video over the Internet. It's no secret fast broadband Internet connections are now widely available. The second problem was video compression. Technically speaking video compression technology or streaming video has been all figured out for us. There was a time when no one could figure out how to compress video or stream video. Now both of the reasons that caused this technology to be stifled, hesitate and sputter along have been figured out for us. Now we see streaming media technology companies have the pedal to the metal. Either one of these solutions could have sparked a wildfire of popularity towards videomail and streaming media. And now that both problems were solved almost at the same time. You will see videomail begin to take off.

What does the future look like?

I believe we will see videomail become more popular than traditional text emails. I have seen statistics to support that over 50 billion emails are sent out each day. Expect to see more Internet users start to use and send video in either live or recorded forms. For business people you will need to use video to compete, because those who use videomail will dominate their markets, as people in the years to come will only do business with those they can see or touch.

No doubt this will become a common method to communicate. In the next year or two videomail will be embeded into your email provider, making sending videomail easier than typing text. Also you will have an icon you will click to live video talk with other people similar to live chat, if that person is not there, you will leave them a videomail. People can talk faster than they can type which is another reason videomail will be widely adopted. The time is near when small companies on up to big companies and everyone you know and or work with, even if they are in the same building or a few steps away, will just click on your head and start talking to you. Communication is about to change for the better in a dramatic way. And it will happen fast. So hang on and start learning about this technology, because it will change and shape the way you communicate forever.

Which Industries will be the most impacted by videomail and live broadcast video?

I don't think anyone will be able to dodge the video communication tech bullet. All industry groups will be affected. But the most important are life saving applications, and education. For example an experienced surgeon could have 3-4 monitors on their desk to watch and direct other surgeons performing surgeries anywhere in the world. Lives will be affected all over. Video communication is improving world and this is a good thing.
