We are in the beginning stages of a major communication shift.
Video communication will open doors for people worldwide to work
remotely from their homes, reducing a families need for
multiple cars, insurance policies, gasoline expenses, dry
cleaning, and a long list of other personal expenses. If
you think about this today, it may help you to make better
decisions for your kids and your own future. Everything that
can go online will go online. Video communication
and broadband will have a major social and economic impact on
hundreds of millions of lives and millions of businesses
around the globe. Corporations are discovering and
implementing telework or telecommute opportunities for their
employees, those corporations will need less office space.
What is going to happen when companies suddenly need 50% less
office space? The need for less office space
will effect local economies and retail businesses,
like restaurants, gas stations, because people who visited
these businesses mornings, lunch time and after work won't be there
anymore! Especially the commercial real estate
industry. Corporations will start downsizing their office
space needs and closing down whole offices because employees are
working from home. Suddenly employees can live anywhere,
limited only by time zones. Imagine buying a house outside of the
city, and not commute to work. Apply for a job thousands of miles
away and get it. Plus you won't up root your family by moving them.
Companies who implement telework and video communications
first can become more profitable and more competitive.
Remember leasing office space is expensive, so is the heating, air
conditioning, lights, insurance, furniture and everything else that
goes into setting up an office filled with employees. It is
important that you are aware of this because it will effect
millions of people. When corporations figure this out, they will
move on this very fast, mark my words, you will start reading
about companies everywhere moving employees out of their offices
and setting them up in home offices. In June of 2007 a major
aerospace company announced 30,000 jobs, another large electronics
company is moving 50,000 people to work from
home. This trend is growing fast now. People all over the
world are being moved to telework or telecommute home office
settings. There are more big companies doing this right now,
because business experts know they will be more profitable with
less office space leased and less chit chat among employees. Be
ready.
